Week of 11/6

Hello!!  The holidays are coming!  We are excited for all the opportunities we will have to spend time with family and friends and be thankful for all the love that surrounds us.

Letter of the week this week: H

“H” bubble letters

“H” is for heart

“H” is for House:

‘H’ Books read this week: Happy Thanksgiving Curious George by Cynthia Platt, One Happy Classroom by Charman Simon, Have You Filled Your Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud, A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle, Hamster by Barrie Watts, Hippos are Huge by Jonathan London

We also read a few Thanksgiving books also: A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting, Thank You Thanksgiving by David Milgrim, Franklin’s Thanksgiving by Paulette Bourgeois, Clifford’s Thanksgiving Visit by Norman Bridwell, The Very First Thanksgiving Day by Linda Gowler Greene

In preparation for our Dubow Thanksgiving celebration, we are getting in the mood:

Pumpkin cupcakes!

In our library resource Ms. Karin read a story about pumpkins and then the kids colored pumpkins.

They really have the beat in music:

In our classroom PE we played beach volley ball:

In gardening the boys and girls learned about how seeds travel and Ms. Heather read them The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle and let them plant nasturtium seeds in their homemade pots.

In our science the kids learned about the solar system and the distances of the planets and they built a rocket ship.

In Jewish studies we learned about how Abraham looked for a wife for Isaac.  He sent his servant to look for a girl who made good choices.

Mystery reader was really special this week with two special guests, Sammy and Miss Gecko.

Show & Share; This week our friends shared their “H” items:

Next week we will be sharing items from home that begin with the letter “I” (as in ice cream).  Side note- if your child brings an item that doesn’t start with the letter of the week we can always think of something to say do that will relate.

FYI – we have begun collecting our ingredients for our Thanksgiving feast (corn/mushroom salad) that will be on Nov 21st.  You will be receiving a follow up message from our room-mom.  Please send them in at your earliest convenience.

Have a wonderful weekend!
