Week of 10/30

It’s G week!  Nothing special about the letter ‘G’.  We just get excited Monday morning about a new week.  We can’t help ourselves!  The kids glued stars on their bubble letter, The ‘G’ books this week were: A Giraffe and a Half by Shel Silverstein, Green by Laura Seeger, Grandpa Green by Lane Smith, Little Gorilla by Ruth Bornstein, A Garden for a Groundhog by Lorna Balian, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown.

We also like to read books about emotions and other matters that small children might relate to.  This week we read: But It’s Not My Fault by Julia Cook, I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont, A Color of His Own by Leo Lionni, Sorry, I Forgot to Ask! by Julia Cook, Making Friends is an Art! by Julia Cook, and When Sophie Gets Angry by Molly Bang.

Also, this week, our focus is about the family.  The students made ‘All About Me’ Houses.  They will be coming home a little later.  We are putting them up on our Shalom board for now.

Of course, we couldn’t let a pumpkin decorating event slip away from us.    We (teacher) cut, we scooped (some of us-others didn’t want to be slimed),  we glued, sprinkled and donned with some fancy sunglasses for a finishing touch.

Free time is always important to develop social skills. They play together so well.

Music with Ms. Emily is always jazzy!

Gardening: The boys and girls learned about the pine-cone life cycle.

Science was a lesson in friction and did they ever have fun with pulleys!

Art was particularly fun this week.  They created art by building a moving machine!

This week we had our teacher conferences.  We love sharing about their progress.  Thank you all for trusting them to us so we can nurture, guide and teach your precious little ones.

Our Mystery Reader charmed us and read several books to the kids:  Germs Are Not for Sharing by Elizabeth Verdick, I’m Not Scared by Jonathan Allen and Where is Baby Dreidel? by Karen Katz.

Here’s a peek at our Shabbat celebration this week:

You can see how much the boys and girls love Show & Share.  They brought a wide variety of “G” items:
